STUDENT SUCCESS STORIES

KATIE PRIESTLEY

2011 Barrette Scholarship
& Margaret McCraney
Scholarship Recipient

Katie is currently studying Biomedical Sciences at Grand Valley State University, and will be attending Michigan State University's College of Osteopathic Medicine in June 2015.

Katie felt that TAS did a great job in preparing her for college, and as someone who gives back, she has spent the last three years as a resident assistant to incoming Freshman. She is helping students whose transition to college may be a little more difficult and sharing her experience.

Katie stresses not being afraid as a key to her success, "Get help when you need it,    and take advantage of all the resources your college provides." As a teaching assistant and tutor, Katie truly understands what resources there are how important
they can be.

 CODY PRIESTLEY

2010 Barrette Scholarship
& Margaret McCraney Scholarship Recipient

Cody will graduate this winter with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Saginaw Valley State University. He already has
a position lined up with Hemlock Semiconductor Corporation as a Reliability Engineer, who he also worked with during college, for 2.5 years, through a
co-op program.

It was his high school counselor who helped him decide to study engineering, and Cody hasn't looked back. Scholarships have been an integral piece to Cody's success.

He stresses the importance of going after what you want and working hard along the way, "Take control of your education, and do it for yourself."
